The Sakai GW750 working at an offramp on the N1 in Pretoria. |
Earthmoving and construction equipment supplier, ELB Equipment, known for sourcing some of the world’s best brand names has done it again. This time they have added another famous Japanese product to their portfolio, the Sakai range of compaction equipment.
Sakai is well received in America, Asia and Australia for its innovation and superior quality. And it is not really a newcomer to the African continent either. Sakai has been operating in numerous countries further North where it is chosen for its ease of operation and undemanding maintenance.
In order to cover a wide range of road building applications, ELB |
Equipment introduced a series of soil and asphalt compaction equipment ranging from 0,7 to 20 ton.
Capable, Lightweight and Eco-friendly:
Due to the global demand for reduced fuel consumption and carbon emissions, Sakai’s engineers developed the world’s first and only vibratory pneumatic tyred roller, the GW750, to meet these new requirements.
The weight of the machine has been drastically reduced to 9.5 tons whilst still delivering the same or even a higher performance capability than a conventional 25 ton static pneumatic tyre roller (PTR). The machine’s light weight, low central gravity, front and rear wheel drive and centre-pin articulation steering provides for increased safety during loading and offloading of the unit. Transport costs are also reduced since the machine is easily transported on a 10 ton flat-deck truck instead of using a heavy-duty truck-and-trailer configuration.
Proven Compaction Technology on Site:
Once offloaded on site, unlike traditional static PTRs that require ballast to be added or removed, the GW750, which needs no ballast, is immediately available to start working.
By simply flicking the amplitude switch to one of four different settings, the GW750 will instantly give the compaction effort needed ranging from 10 to 25 tons.
The GW750 is a truly multi-purpose machine used for a variety of applications ranging from soil sub-base compaction to intermediate or brakedown asphalt applications as well as chip seal pavement finishes.
A centre-pin articulated steering system and all-wheel drive gives perfect tyre overlap and finishes.
High Safety Standards:
Safety on site is further enhanced by the 1 metre by 1 metre visibility from the operator’s seat. A three-way braking system on the front and rear axles includes a hydrostatic primary brake, emergency pedal brake and emergency fail-safe braking system (SAHR). This three-way combination ensures safe working conditions on steep gradients.
The overall height of 3 metres, including the sun canopy, together with a very low centre gravity ensures superb stability in extreme situations such as loading and offloading or working on the shoulder of the road.
The Sakai GW750 is just one example of the range of high quality road building and compaction equipment available from local distributor, ELB Equipment Limited.
Customer Support:
Sakai and ELB are both well-known companies and together, brings nearly two centuries of engineering experience to the industry. Clients can therefore be assured that Sakai compaction equipment is fully supported by ELB Equipment and its dealers throughout southern Africa.
